About Plate & Wand
Plate & Wand is a small independent reference site about flat irons, curling irons and wands. It is organized by kind of tool and by the questions that come before and after buying one, and each page tries to answer one question fully, with the direct answer first.
What you will find here
- Topic pages: choosing a tool, flat irons, curling irons and wands, air and cordless straighteners, brand lineups, heat and technique, care and fixes.
- How-to notes and comparisons for plate widths, barrel sizes, heat settings and technique.
- Tools that pick a barrel size for your hair and show typical heat ranges by hair type.
- Narrow gear guides, each about one kind of styling tool.
Where the numbers come from
Barrel sizes, plate widths and temperature ranges come from what tool makers publish for their products and from long-established styling guidance. Where sources disagree we give a range instead of a single figure, and we say so. The manual for your own tool always wins where it differs from a general rule. The site makes no claims about hair health.
How gear is chosen
We do not run a test bench and we do not claim hands-on testing. Gear guides compare products by what their Amazon listings state. How we pick gear explains the method and its limits.
How the site is paid for
Links to Amazon are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the only income. Nobody pays to be included, and a product is never listed because of its commission. See the affiliate disclosure.
